Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced workers' compensation attorney to join our practice. In this role, you will represent injured workers in workers' compensation claims, handle all aspects of case management, and advocate for fair compensation on behalf of our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workers' compensation law, experience handling complex cases, and a passion for helping individuals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in workers' compensation matters from initial claim filing through closure/resolution, including navigating various administrative processes, hearings, appeals and settlement negotiations.
- Provide legal counsel to clients on their rights and responsibilities under workers' compensation law.
- Analyze and prepare legal documents, including requests for hearing, requests for reconsideration, exhibit lists, legal briefs, discovery responses and settlement agreements.
- Conduct legal research and stay current on changes in Oregon workers' compensation statutes, administrative rules, and case law.
- Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution when appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with clients, medical professionals, insurance companies, attorneys, judges and other parties involved in a case.
- Advocate for clients before the Workers’ Compensation Board and other related administrative forums.
- Maintain accurate case files and case management systems.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the State of Oregon.
- 3 years of experience in workers' compensation law.
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, administrative rules, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and litigation skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and client-focused with a strong commitment to advocating for injured workers.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to handle complex legal issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with appellate work or handling workers’ compensation claims involving third-party liability.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
