Overview:
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Attorney to join our legal team. The primary responsibility of an associate attorney is to handle all aspects of a client’s case including communicating with clients and other counsel, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing for and attending court hearings and conferences, and preparing for and attending trials.
Though the Associate’s caseload is determined by the Owner, the Associate should always look to relieve the Owner of cases in an effort to allow the Owner to focus on the big-picture goals and vision for the Firm.
Reporting Relationship:
The Contract Attorney works under the supervision of the Owner.
Authority:
The Contract Attorney works under the direction of the Owner.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
1. Client Representation:
a. Represent clients in civil and probate litigation cases, including trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings in a timely and efficient manner.
b. Appearing from time to time in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and other judicial tribunals on behalf of the firm's clients and presenting well-reasoned arguments to those tribunals.
c. Conduct thorough legal research to gather evidence, analyze statutes, regulations, and case law, and develop effective legal strategies.
d. Interview clients, witnesses, and experts to gather necessary information for case preparation and to build a strong legal defense or prosecution.
2. Legal Document Preparation:
a. Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
b. Ensure that all legal documents comply with relevant laws, regulations, and court rules.
c. Conduct legal analysis to identify and anticipate potential legal issues, risks, and outcomes.
3. Case Management:
a. Manage a caseload of litigation matters, ensuring deadlines are met and cases are progressing effectively.
b. Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to gather information, prepare for hearings and trials, and develop case strategies.
c. Maintain accurate and organized case files, including all relevant documents, correspondence, and notes.
4. Client Counseling:
a. Provide legal advice and counsel to clients, explaining complex legal matters in a clear and concise manner.
b. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of clients' cases and provide realistic expectations and potential outcomes.
c. Negotiate settlements or plea bargains on behalf of clients, when appropriate. Negotiating with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes, including settlement conferences.
5. Courtroom Advocacy:
a. Represent clients in court, presenting oral arguments, examining and cross-examining witnesses, and making persuasive legal arguments.
b. Prepare witnesses for testimony, including conducting mock examinations and providing guidance on courtroom etiquette.
c. Stay up to date with changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents that may impact ongoing cases.
6. Other:
a. Preparing and analyzing contracts and other legal instruments and suggesting improvements to those documents.
b. Anticipating and mitigating potential legal problems for clients.
c. Drafting additional legal documents as needed.

Education & Experience
This position requires admission to the Nevada bar and 4+ years of civil litigation experience. Experience with business transactions is a plus. Excellent analytical, communication, diplomatic, legal research and writing skills are also necessary.
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, comfortable working with clients and executives alike, ability to explain complex laws in everyday language.
Work Schedule:
We have reasonable billable hour requirements and hold all timekeepers to them.
Must submit all time entries to office manager and legal assistant.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
