The in- house Legal Assistant's primary role is to support the company's legal team including in house and outside counsel, in a wide range of tasks involving litigation, transactional and contracts, and employment matters. Confidential responsibilities include legal research, managing case files, drafting and reviewing legal documents and document preparation and compliance. Responsibilities include file and matter management and organization, scheduling, and assist in the management of the legal and regulatory compliance workflows. You will be required to prepare reports that are crucial to the legal process.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Filing documents in state superior court and federal court
Draft court documents and discovery
Organize and maintain files, file management
Corporate business compliance and corporate filings
Diary and schedule in litigation matters and regulatory compliance
Assist in evidence gathering, witness interviews, and data analysis
Maintain meticulous records and ensure compliance with state statutes and agency protocols
Prepare detailed reports, draft legal documents and maintain case records
Participate in drafting, review and negotiation of contracts
Collaborate and coordinate with attorneys, company personnel and outside professionals
Provide the highest level of confidentiality at all times
Manages multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently
Responsible for adhering to all government regulations and company standards
Maintains professionalism and tact while handling situations
Travel to other locations when requested
Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience with Microsoft Office and Google platforms, legal research data bases, State and Federal Court systems and document management systems
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and interact with diverse stakeholders clearly and concisely
Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional record keeping abilities
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented to effectively handle multiple tasks
Experience using legal research tools
Collection experience a plus, ligation support experience is required
Able to work independently
Self-motivated and takes initiative
Able to pass background checks
Education & Experience
At minimum a relevant Bachelor's Degree or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) strongly preferred
At least one year of experience and knowledge of investigative best practices and interviewing techniques
Physical Demands
Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to sit / stand for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours when needed
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write/type
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
