Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal or Legal Secretary in a general practice and property management, located in Lapeer County. Experience in the legal field is required and a working knowledge of diverse practice areas of law, such as collections (small claims, general civil, and landlord tenant) personal injury, criminal, probate and family law to join our team. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to conduct thorough legal research, and proficiency in document management systems. The Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring that all legal documentation is accurate and compliant with current laws.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using platforms such as Lexis-Nexis to support case preparation.
- Draft, review, and organize legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and depositions by compiling evidence and relevant documentation.
- Maintain communication with clients to provide updates on case progress and gather necessary information.
- Support the team in various administrative tasks related to the law office's operations.
- Pre and Post Judgment Collections and litigation including drafting documents. filing documents with court, file tracking client/debtor interaction and file maintenance. Skills include Typing Ability, attention to detail, scheduling, organization, ability to meet deadlines, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Michigan Court Rules. Experience
- Proven experience as a Paralegal or similar role within a law office setting is preferred.
- Proficient in using legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis, and document management systems
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for client interaction and documentation preparation.
