Summary
Position Highlights:
The Legal Services Assistant will work to directly support the legal team of the OGC, effectively manage OGC projects sent to external resources, effectuate continual communication between the internal stakeholders and the assigned outside counsel, and support legal/non-legal members in fulfilling the responsibilities of the OGC. The Legal Services Assistant will work with the EVP/General Counsel and Legal team to proactively facilitate the smooth flow of business activities using client-service orientation, professionalism, confidentiality, superior organizational skills, excellent coordination and management skills, and a high level of attention to detail.
- This position will also be tasked with ensuring outside counsel's compliance with Moffitt's policies and procedures, county, state, and federal laws, and other applicable rules and regulations, and tracking all outside counsel with deliverable metrics.
- The Legal Services Assistant will assist in the development, revision and implementation of new policies and procedures, and will work with employees, management and external parties at multiple levels of seniority, with excellent communication skills.
- The position will facilitate document management, enter edits from various team members into legal documents, format documents and presentations, and monitor progress of projects handled by the OGC, thus, ensuring the timely progression and conclusion of these projects.
- Additional duties will include e-filing, printing, proof reading/quality control of documents, reporting tasks and deadlines to team, maintain calendar of corporate legal responsibilities (i.e., filing deadlines, response to actions, etc.) as well as limited traditional administrative duties including providing assistance as needed with paralegal and secretarial duties.

- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, faculty, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to demonstrate proactive work ethic and anticipate forthcoming tasks and solutions.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent knowledge of the Internet and Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook software
Responsibilities
- Document management of special projects.
- Management and processing of outside legal invoices.
- Coordinating cross-departmental initiatives.
- Back up to Management Assistant, Paralegal and Sr. Paralegal.
- Supporting efforts of Associate General Counsel and VP/Deputy General Counsel.
- Formatting documents and presentations.
- Limited traditional administrative duties.
- Coordinating edits from various team members into legal documents.
- Creating and editing meeting agendas with outside counsel including providing status of meetings and tasks to all meeting attendees at its conclusion.
- Ensuring the execution and filing of documents once finalized by OGC department.
- Proof reading/quality control of documents.
- Take/send messages for Office of General Counsel.
- Monitor and ensure completion of projects for the Office of General Counsel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Credentials And Qualifications
- A minimum of an Associate's degree plus a minimum of 5 years of successful Legal Assistant experience. Will consider a H.S. diploma plus two (2) additional years of legal assistance experience (for a total of 7 years of legal assistance experience).
Preferred
- Certified Paralegal (i.e. NALA, ABA)
