This role will be highly engaged with the Sonos marketing and brand teams and requires the ability to travel, regularly be in office, and work extended hours when necessary.
The Junior Legal Counsel will serve as part of our corporate legal group and help to advise our global and regional marketing teams. You will be a problem-solver, trusted advisor, and active participant in the business. You will apply your relevant legal background and expertise as well as think quickly on your feet, learn new areas of law and be able to handle legal issues that you haven’t previously faced.
What You’ll Do:

Partner cross-functionally with, and advise, marketing and brand teams to help identify legal issues related to marketing, brand protection, trademark and copyright matters.

Help to advise business teams on key relationships with vendors, agencies and content creators in the US, Canada and major European markets, including negotiation of services agreements, music licenses, sponsorship agreements and influencer/content creator agreements.

Assist senior members of the legal team on matters related to corporate compliance and litigation or other projects as needed.

Manage the legal aspects of our brand protection efforts, including closely partnering with our marketing and sales teams to protect our copyrights and trademarks.

Ensure compliance with US and international laws and regulations dealing with consumer electronics and associated services. Coordinate with other members of the global legal team on training and compliance issues.

Work with and manage outside counsel as necessary related to the above.
What You’ll Need:
-
2-4 years’ experience at a law firm or in-house. Direct experience with marketing and/or advertising matters preferred.

JD degree and active, good standing with a US state bar.

Transactional experience with various types of agreements (agency agreements, MSAs, music licensing, etc.).

Basic experience with business litigation.

Able to understand technical concepts, identify and explain risks to many company stakeholders, including those unfamiliar with legal concepts.

Flexibility to adapt and thrive in an environment that is constantly changing as we expand our business. The role requires an entrepreneurial mindset that enables you to successfully work independently and escalate issues when appropriate.

High integrity and excellent judgment, especially with respect to advising on legal risk and developing scalable processes to support our growing business.

Schedule flexibility and the ability to support stakeholders in multiple time zones.

Able to travel or attend meetings at our Santa Barbara office when necessary.

At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:
$147,000 and $163,200
