Semmes, Bowen & Semmeshas an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal in our General Business practice supporting our Estates and Trusts attorneys.This candidate will provide critical support to our legal team by assisting with a wide range of estate planning and administration matters. Key responsibilities include conducting legal research, managing client files, witnessing and notarizing document signings, filing tax documents, collecting client information, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining accurate client data.
This position will require you to be in the office 5 days per week.
Semmes is a paperless office environment.
Compensation: $50,000 to $65,000 annually including bonus
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- 1+ years of trusts, estates, and/or probate experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate aplus
- Excellent communication and software skills (i.e., Word, Outlook, e-filing, etc.)
- Manage and coordinate attorney calendars, scheduling and travel plans
- Client communication
- Handling all incoming mail and flagging important tasks
- Assist with complex estate planning efforts
- Organize, file, and manage electronic and paper documents
- Must possess excellent critical thinking and organizationalskills
- Typing (at least 60-70 WPM)
- Track billable time on a daily basis
- Prepare legal documents and general correspondence in an accurate and timely manner; proofread, edit, and format documents
