Job Description:
Breville is a global company, publicly traded on the Australian stock exchange, in the consumer products industry. We are looking for a talented remote contractor to join our team to help with overflow corporate, commercial and compliance law work.
This position is primarily responsible for overflow inhouse legal responsibilities including due diligence for corporate transactions, assistance with compliance programs, and commercial agreements. Being remote, the position is flexible in nature. You would be able to determine your own hours as long as the needs of our clients are being met in a timely manner. There is no guaranteed number of hours that would be provided, but you would similarly not need to guarantee any number of hours of availability. Projects would be case by case, on a freelance basis.

Role and Responsibilities
This position offers a variety of opportunities for you to impact the Legal Department and provide value to the Company. It would require you to learn the intricacies of our business and the needs of internal clients in each of their respective departments. You will interface directly with the Legal team and our clients within the Company to ensure that operations run smoothly, efficiently, and are functioning at the highest level to keep our clients happy with unequaled support. This position offers the flexibility of being remote and you can reside in any time zone on the planet.
Responsibilities will vary over time, but are generally expected to include:
Work remotely with support but little supervision - must be able to manage your own and clients' time ethically and responsibly.
M&A due diligence
Compliance support
Litigation support
Support customer and vendor contracting efforts; contract drafting, evaluation, negotiations and amendments.
Review modifications to standard forms and contracts and approve or negotiate modifications within authorized guidelines.
Support internal departments with appropriate information on contractual obligations, arrangements, policies and procedures.
Identify business and legal risks and issues and suggest practical alternatives that allow the business of the Company to move forward in compliance with domestic and international laws, rules, and regulations without undue burden.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Law Degree from an accredited institution (JD or equivalent outside the US); 5+ years legal experience.
Exceptional attention to detail required coupled with coachability for areas of improvement.
Willingness to do or learn anything.
Some repetitive activities, such as due diligence or discovery projects involving large amounts of data.
Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and aptitude for learning various other platforms.
Excellent analytical skills, with an adaptability to draft and review legal documentation, analyze and apply legal advice in accordance with the Company’s needs.
Solution-driven innovator, with ability to exercise appropriate legal judgment, risk assessment, and ability to provide practical advice and contract drafting that aligns with needs to the business.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures, and someone whom clients would consider friendly and approachable.
Extremely responsive with customer service orientation and initiative to ensure timely support.
