Position Overview
The Legal Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the EVP & CLO as well as other members of the legal department. The Legal Assistant will also provide support for substantive legal matters in support of attorneys and legal managers for the Atlanta Braves.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for maintaining, managing, tracking, and updating all legal files of the EVP & CLO in a timely and efficient manner, and supporting other members of the legal department in managing all legal files.
- Assist the EVP & CLO and other attorneys with expense reports, scheduling meetings, and other administrative matters in support of the legal department.
- Provide assistance on substantive legal matters including drafting letters, contracts, and other legal documents in support of EVP & CLO and other attorneys and legal managers.
- Support EVP & CLO on all corporate governance matters related to Atlanta Braves Foundation including drafting minutes and scheduling Board meetings.
- Assist EVP & CLO with corporate secretary matters related to Atlanta Braves, Holdings, Inc. (ABH) including interaction and support of ABH Board members.
- Oversee Braves auto leasing program and interaction with auto leasing vendor.
- Manage auto insurance certificate and claims process with insurance carrier and Braves executives.
- Provide proactive administrative support of tracking and monitoring outstanding legal projects and monitoring key dates and court deadlines.
- Process and handle administrative process for garnishments.
- Assist Braves’ Legal Managers in litigation management, discovery, and insurance renewal process.
- Assisting with the research, planning and preparation for legal educational seminars, and conducting legal research on various legal matters.
- Supporting Braves’ attorneys and outside government affairs firm with respect to pending and potential legislation impacting the Braves’ business.
- All other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 8-10 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm and/or corporate legal department.
- Background in corporate, intellectual property, insurance, and litigation management preferred.
- Professional and customer service-oriented attitude required.
- Proactive, organized and detail-oriented person who can prioritize and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Must be a team player, who cares about teamwork and the team’s success.
- Willingness to work long hours and overtime as department demands may dictate.
- Must complete a successful criminal and credit background check.
