Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The role of the Legal Assistant is to support the attorneys and other staff in the Legal Division of the Office of the Governor. The Legal Assistant will perform a variety of administrative functions including preparing legal documents, scheduling/docketing, organizing and maintaining records, processing mail, filing legal documents, and coordinating with various individuals and agencies. The Legal Assistant will assist in reviewing documents for completeness, adequacy, and conformity with established requirements, and will draft routine correspondence and documents under the supervision of attorneys. During legislative session, the Legal Assistant plays a critical role in the acceptance, delivery, and filing of legislation and messages to or from the Governor. Other duties as assigned.
Due to the nature of business transacted in the Office of the Governor, applicants must demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, as well as pass a background check.

Prior administrative legal support experience

Experience in or demonstrated knowledge of state or federal government
