Job Description
David Yurman is seeking a business-minded employment lawyer with deep experience counseling businesses in all aspects of the employee lifecycle and managing employment-related claims and litigations. While the focus of the position is employment law, you will also play in key role on ESG, supply chain, and product-related regulatory matters. This is an ideal role for an employment lawyer looking to expand their practice, in this case by taking a central role in helping a premier American luxury brand navigate the dynamic challenges posed by emerging regulations.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you must be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously as a key player on a small legal team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Counsel People & Culture and other internal teams on a broad range of employment matters including recruiting, hiring, compensation, benefits, discipline, termination, performance management, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodations, leaves of absence, non-competes, employee/contractor classification, health and safety, wage and hour, predictive scheduling, meal and rest breaks, background checks, employee relations, best practices, and other labor and employment-related matters, policies, and procedures
- Manage all aspects of employment-related disputes, pre-litigation demands, administrative charges, and employee litigation (including drafting position statements and attending mediations), and developing strategies to resolve them
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of scalable and compliant policies and practices to drive compliance with all applicable employment laws
- Oversee and/or conduct internal investigations of employee relations matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements and policies including employee handbooks and related policies, offer letters, severance agreements, and bonus compensation plans
- Provide practical day-to-day advice on employment matters affecting the employee population in our stores, distribution center, and corporate offices
Regulatory
- Work cross-functionally to ensure compliance with laws in the US and abroad related to climate reporting, extended producer responsibility, supply chain due diligence and reporting, product disclosure laws, and other product regulatory issues
- Help develop and scale David Yurman’s ESG reporting program and processes, including identifying and implementing process improvements and technology-enabled solutions
- Assist in drafting and preparing climate and supply chain-related reports and disclosures
- Implement internal processes and practices to support ESG-related governance requirements and meet third-party assurance and verification requirements
General
- Build and deliver internal training programs relevant to the above matters
- Audit business practices to develop and implement policies and procedures to continuously improve compliance and mitigate product/supply chain risks and employment-related risks
- Monitor, research, and provide proactive guidance to cross-functional partners on developments in ESG regulations, product regulations, supply chain-related regulations, employment laws, and related best practices at the local, state, and federal levels and key international markets
- Ability to partner and manage outside counsel
Required Qualifications
- JD with at least 5 years’ of professional experience practicing employment law
- Broad subject matter expertise in federal and state employment laws and regulations, including NY, NJ, and CA
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize across a range of matters to meet timelines in a fast-paced organization
- Experience with employment issues associated with a retail workforce
- Eager to take ownership over work product and advance work independently, but also knows when to escalate issues
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to tackle any task or project, big or small, to accomplish team objectives
- Ability to provide practical, strategic, and business-oriented legal advice
- Resourceful and proactive, with a strong ability to balance legal risk with practical business considerations
- Excellent judgment and the highest level of professionalism and personal integrity
- Ability to provide advice, recommendations, and counseling across all business units and at all levels of the company
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop deep collaborative relationships at all levels across the company
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with unionized environments is a plus

Work Model: Hybrid (3 Days in Office / 2 Days Remote)
Estimated Salary Range: $195,000 - $215,000
