Job Description:
The Legal Compliance Specialist will manage and strengthen the compliance functions for health and disability plans. This position will focus on ensuring that all programs adhere to regulatory standards, contributing to the organization’s overall compliance strategy and framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily compliance activities for health and disability plans, including audits, documentation reviews, and regulatory guidance.
- Manage the first-level pension appeals process, ensuring proper research and resolution.
- Organize quarterly committee meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes.
- Serve as the HIPAA Contact Person, assisting with policy development, training, and implementation.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend process improvements to enhance compliance efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create a proactive compliance culture across the organization.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic compliance initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in benefits administration, compliance, or similar regulatory roles.
- Knowledge of health and disability plan regulations, including HIPAA and benefits taxation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and collaborate across teams effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; certifications in benefits compliance or data privacy are a plus.

- Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days work from home.
