Position Summary
This position will oversee litigation matters involving the NBA and its affiliated leagues. Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Assistant General Counsel, League Governance & Policy, the position will focus on commercial litigation, CBA-related and other arbitrations, and liability risk management.
Major Responsibilities
- Manage commercial litigation matters involving the NBA and its affiliated leagues in state and federal courts across the country. Primary responsibilities include supervising outside counsel, directing case strategy, reviewing case filings, reporting to league management, and advising in-house business clients on case updates and liability risk.
- Coordinate with and advise NBA team general counsel on team-related litigation and pre-litigation matters.
- Work with NBA regional office lawyers on international disputes.
- Oversee day-to-day litigation case management (e.g., discovery, litigation holds, insurance, budgeting, indemnification requests, audits, press inquiries, case monitoring, third-party subpoena responses).
- Oversee all aspects of CBA-related arbitrations, including briefing, hearings, factual investigation, and research and analysis.
- Perform special projects and other assignments relating to collective bargaining, league operations, and league governance.
Required Education/Professional Experience
- Admission to practice in the State of New York.
- Juris Doctor Required
- 8+ years of experience after law school; in-house background preferred but not required.

Salary Range: $265,000 - $320,000
