This position requires extensive experience with VA disability benefits and does not include practicing in the area of social security benefits.
We are looking for an experienced attorney who has a passion for helping disabled individuals, disabled veterans, and their surviving dependents. Our new attorney must have the experience and maturity to run a full caseload with the empathy and compassion to give our clients outstanding representation.
The Job
- Our firm exclusively practices in the area of disability benefits, including assisting veterans and surviving dependents obtain benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
- You will conduct client interviews and recommend strategies.
- You must demonstrate experience in taking ownership of a client's case and delivering high-quality, timely work-product, that aims to maximize a client’s entitlement to benefits.
- You will represent VA claimants at both the agency level and at the Court of Appeals for Veterans’ Claims.
- You will delegate work to paralegals and legal assistants and monitor their work.
- This job is 100% remote so you must be able to work independently with minimal supervision or oversight.
The Essentials
- We need an attorney who can contribute to developing the strategy of a case and who knows where to find the rules of procedure and case law to back up that case strategy.
- We need an attorney who knows how to navigate the VA system, who knows how the VA benefits system works, and who can project confidence and competence when dealing with clients, VA employees, judges, and opposing counsel.
- If you see a “case file” as more than paper – but as an opportunity to help someone maximize benefits and “find buried treasure”, you’ll like the way we think.
- You will be able to take initiative in work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Skills and experience are important and valued, but your personality, character, intelligence, and integrity are more important considerations to join our team.
Requirements
- Be in good standing and licensed to practice law in at least one state.
- Be accredited to represent veterans before the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
- Have at least three years’ experience in VA Benefits Law.
- Have familiarity with Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits and ERISA litigation.

Salary
Salary is commensurate with skill and experience and is negotiable. The compensation package includes base salary plus bonus compensation for production and performance. We offer paid time off. We also pay for continuing legal education, bar dues, and some approved voluntary bar memberships.
