Buchalter APC, a full-service business law firm, has an immediate opening for a Litigation Legal Assistant based in our Nashville office.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-level administrative and organizational support to multiple litigation attorneys. This role ensures the smooth and efficient management of legal cases by assisting with document preparation, case coordination, scheduling, and communication with clients and court officials. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while handling sensitive legal matters with the utmost discretion.
Essential Functions
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence.
- Assist in the preparation and finalization of trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- File legal documents electronically or manually with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Maintain and update attorneys’ litigation calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
- Monitor and calculate court deadlines and ensure timely filing of all documents.
- Assist in gathering and organizing discovery materials, including document production and interrogatories.
- Conduct basic research and compile information for attorneys, leveraging online and internal resources.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information during the discovery process.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of litigation or transactional experience, preferably supporting multiple attorneys in a mid-size to large law firm or a similar environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with legal document management software, such as iManage.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, processes, and protocols.
Work Environment
- This position is hybrid offering four remote workdays per month.
- The office environment is professional, collaborative, and focused on supporting high-stakes legal work in a law firm.
- Overtime may be required on an as-needed basis.
