Position Title: Attorney (TennCare Division)
Location: Nashville, TN (Hybrid Position)
Duration: Long-term Contract
Important Notice: During an active assignment with the Division of TennCare, selected attorney contractors may be prohibited from practicing law outside of their TennCare assignment due to potential conflicts of interest. Please inform all candidates of this restriction.
Description Of Duties
- Document Review (25%): Review POAs, authorized representative forms, HIPAA authorizations, and other representative documents for sufficiency.
- Legal Filings & Discovery (25%): Prepare motions and preliminary legal filings, gather information for discovery requests from opposing counsel or appellants.
- Research & Hearing Preparation (25%): Research laws, rules, and policies related to TennCare Medicaid, prepare Notices of Hearing, and collaborate with Appeal Litigation Specialists to create information packets for hearings.
- Litigation & Appeals (25%): Litigate appeals through administrative hearings, conduct legal research to identify cases for appeal, and draft necessary appellate documents and pleadings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university
- Active License to practice law in Tennessee
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage workload to meet deadlines
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to foster and maintain cohesive working relationships
- Sound judgment and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to interpret and execute public policy
- Proficient with multiple computer systems and applications
